El Signor Mountain shelter – A place of memory, nature, and welcome
El Signor Refuge is more than just a shelter: it’s a place rich in history and meaning. Located along the scenic trails of Monte Baldo, it has long served as a haven for hikers, families, and nature lovers.
In recent years, it fell into disrepair and was gradually forgotten. But today, thanks to the efforts of US Montebaldo ASD, the refuge has been brought back to life. Carefully restored and reopened, it now functions as a self-managed emergency bivouac, freely accessible 24 hours a day.
Inside, you’ll find essential supplies, information signs, and a safe space to rest in case of bad weather, fatigue, or need. There are no staff or commercial services: the refuge operates on mutual respect and the civic responsibility of those who use it.
It’s a concrete example of how community spirit and love for the land can transform an abandoned spot into a vital resource for all.
A simple place, yet essential — just like the mountain itself.
