Fraglia Vela Malcesine Sailing Club

One of the biggest and most important organisations for sailing in Malcesine is the Fraglia Vela Malcesine Sailing Club.

This historic club has been promoting and supporting all nautical sports for nearly 80 years, introducing people to life afloat.

It is on the north-eastern shore of Lake Garda in an ideal location for training and competitive sailing or just learning the ropes thanks to the famous Garda wind.
For decades, Fraglia Vela Malcesine Sailing Club has been helping children to fall in love with the lake and its winds, offering professional expertise in a wonderful location at prices which are very affordable for everyone at one of the world’s leading sailing clubs.

Sailing and windsurfing are much more than just sports: they teach us courage, self-confidence, and determination. They offer friendship, teamwork, and cooperation.
Every year the Fraglia Vela Malcesine Sailing Club organises a number of prestigious events, with a total of 80 days of events each year split across regional, national, and international regattas.

We offer activities to suit everyone, including:

  • Panoramic boat and yacht trips, with a huge choice of routes along the wonderful rugged coast.
  • Private sailing lessons for beginners and more experienced sailors who want to improve their skills.
  • Trips on foiling dinghies.
  • Sailing, windsurfing, and SUP school.
  • Kitesurfing lessons.
  • Kayak, boat and catamaran rental.

Fraglia Vela Malcesine Sailing Club also organises regattas, races and events from late March until the end of October, featuring competitors from all over the world.
In May (15-21), the Finn world championships come to Fraglia Vela Malcesine Sailing Club for the first time, attracting more than 100 sailors from across the globe. In addition to the series of exciting regattas during these months, we also recommend the unmissable “Foiling Week” (June 30 - July 3), now in its tenth edition, an exclusive event for fans of foiling dinghies.
The event will open on June 26, 2023, followed by a packed calendar of events, from regattas to free taster lessons and interesting conventions and meetings.
July sees the Waszp World Championships return to Malcesine (12-16 July), attracting more than 150 sailors from all over the world. In August there is the H-Boat World Championships and the famous Trofeo Simone Lombardi. A packed programme of events, a testament to Lake Garda’s thriving sporting tradition, in a wonderful environment that is ideal for water sports.
